I am just back from a cruise to the Baltic and St Petersburg and what a great time I had too. I went with a couple of friends and we all enjoyed the trip. We visited Copenhagen ( and took the obligatory photo of the Little Mermaid!) Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg – where we saw the ballet, Swan Lake, at the Hermitage Theatre – Tallin and Gothemburg. We walked for miles during our sightseeing forays, took hundreds of photographs and talked non-stop for hours. We also ate far too much as my rather snug clothes will testify! All in all it was a great holiday but I was still happy to come home.

You see, I love to travel but I also love to be home in my own house with all my familiar belongings around me too. I enjoy getting up early in the morning and taking my dog for a walk before settling down to a morning of writing. I love spending time with my grandchildren and then coming home and collapsing on the sofa! I love seeing friends and catching up on what has been happening in their lives. I wouldn’t like to be away on holiday all the time because I would get bored. I suppose what I am really saying is that treats should be rationed otherwise they aren’t treats any more.
So how do you feel about holidays? Do you wish you could be on permanent holiday or do you prefer a couple of trips away each year so you can come back refreshed and get on with your life? Post me and let me know. There’s copy of The Rebel Who Loved Her for the most interesting answer!
love,
Jennifer.
